| Manheim Township High School Faculty & Friends Present: A Finger Lakes Holiday Adventure Friday, November 12-14, 2010 Day 1-Friday, November 12 Depart at 7:00AM from Elite Coach Parking Lot (1685 West Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522).We begin our adventure and arrive in Corning, NY around 11:30AM where we will have a surprise visitor waitingfor us! We then make our way to Corning Museum of Glass, where first we’ll enjoy a boxed lunch. Afterlunch, a guide will meet the group for a docent lead tour of the Museum, where we’ll see galleries of glass, (including contemporary collections and collections of glass artifacts), a hot glass show, (with a narrated glassblowing demonstration), and the Glass Innovation Center, which is an interactive high-tech technology experience. After the tour, everyone will have the option to continue exploring on their own or experiencing a hands-on glassmaking activity (additional charge), where professional glassmakers will guide individuals through an interactive Sandblast Glass activity where wine glasses will be frosted with designs! The remainder of the afternoon will then be spent exploring historic Market Street, within the Gaffer Districtof Corning. There will be many unique shops, coffee shops, art galleries and more to explore! We will then head off to dinner at Spencer’s, a charming and rustic family restaurant, specializing in homemade and awardwinningsoups, entrees and desserts. There’s sure to be something for everyone here! After dinner, we’ll check into our hotel, the Hampton Inn in Horesheads/Elmira, where we’ll be staying forthe next 2 nights. Make yourself comfortable and get some rest for another exciting day is ahead of us! Day 2-Saturday, November 13 After a deluxe continental breakfast (includes hot and cold items) at the hotel in the morning, we’re off on our next adventure…ringing in the holiday season in vintage form at the Keuka Holiday Event, one of the mostpopular and not-to-be-missed events of the year along the Keuka Lake! Everyone will receive a handmadegrapevine wreath at our starting winery and will collect a Christmas ornament at each winery we stop at! Each winery will be alive with holiday decorations and cheer and will offer delicious hearty winter foods along with their finest wines. Gift shops at each winery will be stocked with unique and local items perfect for almost everyone on your shopping list! After an exciting day of wine tasting and shopping, we’ll unwind with a relaxed yet elegant fine dining experience at The Three Birds Restaurant. Sure to be a culinary experience for everyone, Three Birds culinary team pridesitself on providing fresh and exceptional foods and begins each day gathering the freshest ingredients. The dining room is filled with art from local glass blowers, painters, and sculptures so that you may feast your eyes on beauty as you feast your souls with culinary genius! Day 3-Sunday, November 14 After another deluxe continental breakfast at the hotel in the morning, the Charm of an Old-Fashioned Christmas Awaits You at The Christmas House. A Queen Anne Victorian Mansion filled with Holiday andEveryday Delights; it is the perfect place to shop for the Holidays and Every Day! It is also one of the most photographed buildings in the region and has been featured in the coffee table book, “America’s Painted Ladies”. We will then continue on our adventure and make our way up to Canandaigua Lake where the New YorkWine & Culinary Center awaits. Bring your appetites, as we’re sure to eat our way through this afternoonadventure! A chef will be waiting for the group and will engage us in a Kitchen Social. We know that the best social gatherings are in the kitchen surrounded by great foods and drinks. At the Hands-On Kitchen, the chef will create a menu of light hors d’oeuvres for us to munch on along with New York State wines and beers. After our hors d’oeuvres social, a unique educational and interactive experience will be dished-up. We’ll enjoy a three course lunch while relaxing in a comfortable theater setting at the Culinary Center. Included in this three course lunch is a dessert, which will be demonstrated by a NYWCC Chef. Perhaps after an afternoon of enjoying new and delicious foods, you’ll walk away with new ideas for serving up a memorable holiday gathering! Around 3:30, we’ll be ready to say goodbye to the Finger Lakes, but take with us the memories of a wonderful adventure, (and hopefully a few good gifts and wine too!). We will stop en route for a 30-40 minute rest/fast food stop and plan to arrive home at approximately 10:00PM.
